Instructor Reveal: Kate Karafotas

Meet the newest addition to the DC Instructor team, Kate Karafotas! 

Tell us about yourself! 
I was born in Connecticut and raised in New York City. After high school I took a gap year (and a half!) snowboarding in Aspen, CO. I couldn’t bear to leave Colorado so I decided to go to the University of Colorado at Boulder. While there I would snowboard in the winter and mountain bike in the summer. After college, my boyfriend (now husband!) and I moved to DC, and other than a brief stint in the Chicago area, have stayed here since. We have two beautiful daughters, Maya and Zoe. I spend a lot of time shuttling them around to activities and school, but my fitness time is MY time to zone everything and everyone else out and find my center. Making time for fitness has made me a saner, happier lady!


How did you get into Indoor Cycling?
A few years ago I was visiting my mom at the beach in NY and was trying to find an exercise class since there isn’t a traditional gym there. I had seen a studio the previous summer, but had been too afraid to try it. This time I had more courage! I had spent the last 6 months working hard to train for a sprint triathlon in an effort to shed those final pounds from my second pregnancy. I signed up for a class and 45 minutes later was totally hooked.I  loved the music, the motivation, and that I was drenched in sweat when I left – it was a cathartic experience! I went every day when I was there and when I came home I decided I wanted to pursue getting certified so I could bring my own energy and playlist!

What are you excited about bringing to the Revolve community?
I am excited to bring my enthusiasm for indoor cycling and music to Revolve. In terms of music I play a lot of current stuff, but sometimes you need a little Whitney or Michael!! I’ll push you hard and remind you that you are stronger than you think. I’ll help you reach your fitness goals and then help you set those standards higher!

Three words that describe you.
Outgoing. Relaxed (mostly!). Shopaholic.

What are some of your favorite things? 
Kale, lululemon, and Bravo TV. Seriously – I wish I was kidding. I like to fuel my body, be comfortable, and rot my brain 😉 I also love spending time outside; whether it be biking with the kids or walking the dogs. I used to love winter, but now I am spring/summer gal through and through!


Instructor Reveal: Robin Arzon

We’re excited to introduce our latest addition to the Revolve family. Riders, meet Robin! She’s our lawyer turned ultramarathoner, fashionista and fitness apparel designing instructor and just about the sweetest person to ever come through our doors.


Every New Yorker has a story about how and why they ended up here. What’s yours?

NYC is my boyfriend. We’re in a long term relationship. I moved here to attend NYU back when Bungalow 8 was still a thing, and then moved back after law school. Grandmaster Flash said it best, “New York, New York Big City of Dreams. Everything in New York ain’t always what it seems.”


NYC has so many different specialized workouts. What drew you to indoor cycling and how has that affected your ultramarathon-ing?

Indoor cycling is the perfect cross training. The added bonus of tapping into a powerful zone on the bike is a plus. I rode outside to get from A to B, but I didn’t understand the power of indoor cycling until I started taking classes at Equinox. Jay Blahnik, someone I really admire in health and wellness, showed me what’s possible in a cycling class. The marriage of sweat, music, and endorphins was truly a spiritual experience for me. It inspired me to live a life high on sweat.

Most surprising thing on your Bucket List?

Running across the country is on my “To Do” list. And I fully plan to have Beyonce in class one day. You hear that, Bey?

What inspired you to design your own fitness apparel line? Will we be seeing some pieces as Revolve apparel?

“Sweat with swagger” is my mantra. Look good, work hard, and never sacrifice style for function. Spandex is my business casual. I live boldly, and I wanted to create a line that reflects that. It launches this fall and I can’t wait to share it with the Revolve family. Revolve bleeds authenticity, and so do I. We’re the perfect fit.


Any tips for people who want to leave their corporate jobs and follow their dreams?

Your life is your message and you have the power to create yourself. I believe when you’re pursuing your passions, the universe has a funny way of giving you what you need. A few tips about career changes:

  • Think about what makes you truly happy and do more of that.
  • There will never be the “perfect” moment. Act now.
  • Do an honest assessment of your dreams & your skill sets. This will help take calculated risks.
  • Dream big; hustle hard. Remember: you are 1 of 1.

30 Days of Unlimited Indoor Cycling Classes (…and why I can’t stop talking about Revolve)

There’s something magical about every Rider’s first Revolve experience. Do you remember when you got hooked? NYC Rider Megan Conley shared her story with us in today’s guest blog. We’re so happy to have Megan spreading the #RevolveLove!

I thought it’d make sense to start this blog post by summarizing my first indoor cycling class three years ago in 14 words: it was painful, and I left with no desire to ever take another class.

The soreness in my legs left me defeated and uninspired, so I really had to push myself to get back on an indoor cycling bike.

After convincing myself indoor cycling was a worthwhile workout (and realizing how to properly sit on a bike and master the different positions!), I’ve spent the last couple years experimenting with different studios from classes at NYSC, to bikes that rotate with your body movement (RUSH Cycling) to underwater cycling, which I came across after being influenced by the Queen Bey herself (AQUA Spin!)

I can honestly say one of my favorite studios to date has been Revolve NYC, so I got in touch with them to write this guest blog post as a love letter to them!

My experience with Revolve began after I found the 14th street studio on a Classtivity pack I’d purchased. After attending my first class, I was inspired to sign up for the Intro Month Package, which includes 30 days of unlimited rides. If the immediate 30 day class pack purchase isn’t enough to convince you this studio’s amazing, then here’s a little more insight into why I love Revolve:


THE INSTRUCTORS & COMMUNITY VIBE WITHIN THE CLASSES: My favorite class of the 30 days was on this past NY Pride Day, where the studio transformed into a full out party for their Pride Ride (the photo below shows a quick glimpse of how much fun we all had!)

THE 60 MINUTE RIP RIDE: Weights + Enthusiastic Instructors + 60 Minutes of Pushing Yourself  + Motivating Music = my favorite type of ride!

Speaking of motivating music…

THE MUSIC: All the instructors’ music kept me riding through the duration of each class (and as an added bonus, some of their music’s on Spotify so you have the option of listening to #RevolveSounds off the bike as well!)

I’ve recommended Revolve to co-workers, friends, and family (I even took my little sister with me to a class when she was visiting NYC & used the BFF code.  Here’s us after we took the 6am class!)
